Tom and Lisa live in a 19th century farmhouse in Tullow, Co. Carlow.
At first glance, it is big and beautiful, but all is not quite as it seems. It's a two up, two down with a difference.

When Tom and Lisa inherited the farmhouse 11 years ago, it was derelict and was far from walk-in condition. They took 3 years to renovate it and make it their own. Now, second time round, with two children and planning more, they need more space.
Tom, who's keen to keep the integrity of the old farmhouse and doesn't mind if the "Taj Mahal" is built out the back. But with Dermot's radical design, Tom is forced to reappraise this desire to keep the original farmhouse intact.
With plans finally agreed, the couple have some unexpected news for Dermot.... His clients are going to build it themselves, with Tom assuming the role of main contractor. With the help from a few friends, Tom plans to finish within 16 weeks. They have ¤150,000 to spend but - with no experience of budgeting for materials and labour - throughout the build the actual target spend remains the mystery until the very end. And with the schedule doubling in time (30 weeks)- they have to wait twice as long to find out! The house becomes Tom and Lisa's labour of love. Can Dermot live up to his client's expectations and have the same passion for the building as they do...Yes. He. Can.
