Programme 6: Ballygarrett

This week, Podge and Jo Ussher want to turn their Wexford cottage from a holiday home into their permanent home without sacrificing any of its 1930s charm. Their house needs a lot of work. They don't have a proper kitchen or dining room. When their grandchildren visit it gets really cramped so they also need another bedroom.

Dermot has a real affinity with the area. "I spent a lot of time down in Wexford as a child, I love the proportions of the buildings and the landscape, it's so unspoilt here".

Dermot's challenge is to create space by reconfiguring and extending Podge and Jo's cottage, while striking a balance between its 1930s vernacular architecture and that of a brand new 21st century annex.
