Episode Five
Sunday 3rd May 2009
On the Easter holiday of 1998 a group of students entered a 15km long cave system in Doolin Co Clare. The cave has two entrances so the students split into two groups and planned to meet up in the middle of the cave system.
After several hours of caving some of the students emerged from the pothole, while the other group was trapped underground. Thye could find no way out of the claustrophobic maze 165ft underground and there was no way for them to communicate with the outside world. The Irish Cave Rescue organisation and Doolin Coast Guard were called, but after hours of searching every nook and cranny of the 15 km long cave system, there was no sign of the missing students.
