The Sheriff and Me

In this short film the Dublin County Sheriff, allows cameras observe the process of official debt recovery. We see the devastating impact of the financial crisis on three very different sets of people and how their failure to deal with their debt ultimately involves the local sheriff.

The programme shows very clearly the extent of this personal strain. We see the fallout when business success turns to failure. And we see one small family retailer desperately struggle to avoid the deployment of the sheriff's last weapon - seizure of goods.

The Sheriff & Me tells personal stories of people in debt and offers an insight into the inner workings of the sheriff's office. It is a timely film that reflects the economic downturn on a very intimate level.
