The RTÉ Sports Awards

The RTÉ Sports Awards in association with The Irish Sports Council will see a host of Irish sporting stars in attendance for one of the best sport events of the year. Michael Lyster, Darragh Maloney, Clare MacNamara and Des Cahill will present the awards ceremony which will include a review of the sporting year and look back on the dramatic and memorable sporting moments of 2011. Awards presented on the night will be RTÉ Sports Person of the Year, RTÉ Sports Team of the Year, the RTÉ/Irish Sports Council's Hall of Fame Award and new award, the RTÉ Sports Manager of the Year.

It was another exciting year in Irish sport which saw Kilkenny reclaim the all Ireland Hurling title for the fifth time in six years, Leinster were crowned Champions of Europe, Katie Taylor took gold at the European Championships, Rory McIlroy's US Open triumph, the Republic of Ireland's qualification for Euro 2012 and Darren Clarke's British Open win.
