Raw

Raw

It's one year on, upbeat Fiona (Aisling O'Sullivan) is turning 40 today, and the gang are planning some drinks for the end of the night. However, things are thrown off kilter when word comes through of the RAW building being sold. It turns out Fiona and Geoff's (Damon Gameau) new landlord is none other than Dan Kelly (Dermot Crowley) - Fiona's Dad. Geoff's relieved to be paying rent to someone they can trust but Fiona's not so sure Dan's going to be as 'hands off' as he promises.

Jojo (Charlene McKenna) turns up late and hungover for work. She's still tying up the last loose ends of her failed relationship and is throwing herself back into single life and partying hard. Now crashing at Kate and Shane's and out every night, it's almost like she's back to the same fun, reckless Jojo of five years ago. But those closest to her begin to suspect that Jojo's hiding in the bottle and avoiding putting her life back together.

Geoff (Damon Gameau) is missing Pavel (Krystof Hadek) who's in the Czech Republic for a few weeks. When a kitchen porter storms out, he hires an unlikely replacement in Philip (Sam Keeley) - RAWs shy window cleaner. An odd soul, he makes a huge mess of that staff lunch but wows Geoff with its surprisingly complex flavours. Geoff promptly takes him under his wing - could it be he's unexpectedly discovered a new protégé? It turns out Philip has a secret, he's homeless and there seems to be someone mysterious after him.

Geoff also tries out a new supplier Ed Blaney (Brian Doherty) who he quickly realises is an old flame of Fiona's from university. Sparks fly and Geoff takes great pleasure in inviting Ed along to awkward Fiona's 40th birthday drinks.
Kate (Kelly Gough) and Shane (Keith McErlean) are now happily living together. And Shane is building towards a better life together by juggling shifts at RAW with brushing up his Family Law skills at college - helped in his studying by his new friend Rose (Marie Ruane). Kate too is back working at RAW and is troubled to realise she's 'late'. A close-call pregnancy scare leaves Kate overjoyed to be young and free but Shane thinking about their future and children. Before they can consider any of that, he needs to meet Kate's Dad, Dan. And he certainly manages to make an impression! Shane resolves to take Kate for a romantic away for a night in the old Harte holiday home. Little does she know, it's actually a caravan.

Dan's other surprise for Fiona is to bring in her and Kate's 16-year-old half-sister, Emma (Tara Lee). Fiona's overjoyed to see her. Confident, intelligent, and stylish in a quirky kind of way, Emma seems to embody attributes from both sisters. And her big news is that she's decided not to return to school. Fiona finds herself being pressured into giving her sister a job at RAW. Tomorrow will be her first day.

Everyone raises a glass at Fiona's party. Jojo gets stuck into the drinks. And Dan shocks Fiona by revealing he'll be living above the restaurant from now on. Meanwhile Ed arrives to catch up with Fiona but while her back's turned he ends up having crossed words with Dan and leaves without a proper goodbye. It seems there's history there.

Party animal Jojo, doesn't want the night to end and drags a bunch of 'randoms' back from the pub. It looks like Shane and Kate's flat is going to take a battering.
