Michaela - Finding Peace

John McAreavey, whose wife, Michaela, was murdered during their honeymoon in Mauritius in January 2011, is among those interviewed in a documentary to be screened on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.

The one-hour programme 'Michaela - Finding Peace' also includes interviews with Michaela's father, Mickey Harte, her lifelong friend and bridesmaid, Edel McCarron, another family friend, Fr Gerard McAleer and an uncle of John McAreavey, the Catholic Bishop of Dromore, Dr John McAreavey, who officiated at the couple's wedding ceremony in December.

The documentary explores how those closest to Michaela are attempting to come to terms with their loss and the role that faith and community support has in their lives.

The prime minister of Mauritius, where Michaela was killed and the island's Director of Public Prosecutions also talk to the programme makers.

Michaela's death, less than a fortnight after she was married caused widespread shock throughout the country. Thousands of people attended her wake and funeral. Four leading members of the DUP were among the crowds who called to the family home to express their sympathies and one of them, Stormont minister, Arlene Foster, is interviewed during the programme.

'Michaela - Finding Peace' is written and produced by RTE's Northern Editor, Tommie Gorman.
