Date With Fate

Imagine you were single and you had the unique opportunity to take a look in a romantic crystal ball and see how life might possibly look 30 years down the track with a potential partner? It's the ultimate speed date. Well RT Two is giving one singleton that unique opportunity, in Date With Fate, the new dating show that takes the chance out of romance.

One girl will get to whittle six guys down to two as she searches for Mr Right. She'll get to see what her future could possibly look like with each of the last two men standing, if they were to hook up long term.

Using extensive research, career assessment, family history, background chats, goals and aspirations, we create two very different future homes. Our single girl, along with each of the two final guys, will get to tour the house that reflects their future together. When they open the door to each house, they will be greeted with computer-generated photos of their potential offspring, and pictures of their 'wedding day' grace the mantelpiece - was it a castle in Tuscany or a simple civil ceremony at the local registry office? A look out front will reveal if it's a Jaguar or a second hand Ford Fiesta in the driveway? What about the bedroom? Do XXL greyish white Y-fronts grace the floor or monogrammed silk briefs? And what about reading matter - does Katie Price's latest chick lit adorn the bedside cabinet or a weightier Tolstoy? What will the kitchen reveal - will it show Pot Noodles or a pot roast? Will photos depict the couple holidaying on the ski-slopes or on a wet weekend camping?

Back from the future, and astounded at two possible lifestyles, our singleton must now make her choice based on what she's seen and learnt about the two guys - who will she ditch... and who will she date?

How Date With Fate works:

STAGE 1 - our girl gets to pick an initial four guys from six potential suitors. The twist in the tail? She doesn't get to meet the guys, but only sees each aged up by 30 years on a huge art gallery style canvas. With just these 'middle aged' images and one piece of audio from each guy, she must decide who she likes the look and sound of. Two guys bite the dust at this stage and four suitors' progress and go on an official 'first date' with our single girl.

STAGE 2 - four guys picked, our girl gets to meet them face to face for a 'first date', a group date, of her choosing. A day at the luxury hotel and spa, Brook Lodge, awaits our four men, which sees food, wine, pampering, archery and a quick dip in the hot tub on the agenda. After some alpha male posturing over archery, our girl gets to break all the 'first date' rules by asking each of the four guys a 'taboo', squirm inducing, question, which range from 'Am I the type of girl you'd like to marry?' to ' have you ever cheated on a girl?' to 'do you want children?' to 'what , if any, are your sexual fantasies?' At the end of the date, our girl has to pick two from the final four to take into her love time machine and take a walk around a home that represents their future lives together.

STAGE 3 - two potential suitors left standing and two very different future homes that represent a possible life with each, awaits our single girl. To add to proceedings, she, along with each guy, will be tasked with cooking and hosting a meal for his parents, her possible future in laws. Will she get on with them? Will they see her as possible future daughter-in-law material? And equally will his parents put her off possibly dating their son?

After two very different glimpses at two very different possible future lifestyles, our girl must decide who she'd like to go on a proper first date with.

26-year-old Jane Lyons was our singleton on the show. She is a born and bred Tipperary girl with a degree in business studies and event management. She does some work as a part time model, but her goal is to set up her own event management company.
