Angola After The War

In 1975 the former colony of Angola in southern Africa split from Portugal. For the next 35 years, a brutal colonial war tore the country apart. Now the war is over and Chinese business interests have in many ways, replaced the Portugese. 10 years after he left the Angolan town of Kuito still at war, former Irish aid worker Colin Murphy returns to Angola to see how the African country is faring. There is only one small problem: the cameraman he hopes to film with is refused entry at the border. Colin suddenly has to figure out how to make the documentary all on his own.
During the five-day, 600 mile journey into Angola's war-scarred heartland, Colin meets returning refugees, the unemployed, new business folk, families recovering from loss as well as the dismantled machinery of war. And yet, despite corruption and the return of foreign exploitation, Angola today appears optimistic. But can a country that fought brother against brother, sister against sister, ever let go of its violent past?
