Nominated for Best Irish New Act at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards, March sees the release of instrument-swapping Dublin quartet The Immediate's 'make our devils FLOW' ep. The four tracks - Don't You Ever, A Ghost in This House, Tomorrow's Zero and This Mirror In The Hall - are taken from the band's debut album, which is due out later this year.
2005 was a year to remember for David Hedderman (vocals, guitar, bass), Conor O'Brien (vocals, guitar, drums), Barra Heavey (keyboards, guitar, bass, drums) and Peter Toomey (vocals, drums, bass). They began the year with the launch of their debut single 'Never Seen'/'Say This' on the renowned Fierce Panda label. It sold out within a week. Their video made it on to MTV's alternative music show '120 Minutes'; they received airplay from BBC Radio 1 DJs Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe and garnered a Single of the Week accolade from XFM in the UK.
And the successes just kept piling up: the band played the world famous South by Southwest festival in Texas, toured the UK and in June signed a record deal with London label Fantastic Plastic Records. Later that summer they began work with Grammy-winning producer Chris Shaw (Bob Dylan, Wilco, Weezer, Super Furry Animals) on their debut album.
