Chequerboard is the name of Irish musician and visual artist John Lambert, who blends classically tinged acoustic guitar with electronica.

In 2007, John received a music fellowship from the Model Arts and Niland Gallery in Sligo where he spent the year working on 'Penny Black' his current offering, which has been capturing the imagination of critics and the public alike since its release in 2008.
