Bell X1
Bell X1's new album, 'Flock', was released in Ireland on 14 October 2005 and went straight into the Irish charts at Number One. But that's not all. Bell X1 have also played a major tour of Ireland; sold out a mini-tour of the US; recorded a live session for Nic Harcourt's highly rated radio show on KCRW in Los Angeles and provided the music for the most watched scene of the last series of 'The OC'. What they're going to get up to in 2006 is anyone's guess.
The Immediate
Nominated for Best Irish New Act at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards, March sees the release of instrument-swapping Dublin quartet The Immediate's 'make our devils FLOW' ep. The four tracks - Don't You Ever, A Ghost in This House, Tomorrow's Zero and This Mirror In The Hall - are taken from the band's debut album, which is due out later this year.
Hal
After the release of their self-titled debut album in April - which went straight into the Irish Top 10 in its first week of release - Dublin-based quartet Hal hit the ground running, playing festivals and gigs both at home and abroad, as well as doing their first headline tour of the UK in June. Although they have continued to concentrate on playing live on this side of the Atlantic, they have also been making forays over to the US for promo and live shows. Championed by music magazine Uncut, the future is looking bright for these purveyors of harmonic pop and heartfelt classic ballads.
Miriam Ingram
Miriam Ingram combines her self-penned songs with instrumental arrangements, creating a colourful and melodic soundscape. Ingram recently recorded her debut album, 'Trampoline', in Dublin, Kerry and France with a variety of musicians and engineers. She has just finished mixing it with David Odlum, Joe Chester and Owen Drumm and it is due for release in the near future.
