Discipline Tips :

  • Keep Eye Contact. When you want to get through to children it is vital you get their full attention.
  • Be Consistent. Follow through on whatever you say you are going to do.
  • Use Downward Tonality and Stay Calm and Determined when disciplining them.
  • Design a List of Rules so it is clear what behaviour is not acceptable.
  • Create a Rewards Chart that they can work towards, earning themselves a reward for good behaviour.
  • Have them Schedule in their own housework and stick to it.

Create a Reward Chart

The Rewards Chart is a useful technique to ensure that children start to behave. By creating rewards such as trips to the zoo or cinema and making it dependent on good behaviour, the children learn that their fate is in their own hands and they learn to behave better.

Business Meeting Tips

  • Imagine everyone at the meeting is smiling at you regardless of their outside expression.
  • Take a deep breath and sigh before you begin. This will release any tension and help you relax easily.
  • Keep everything relevant and make sure people stay on track.
  • Ensure that you bring things back to a decision.
  • Lean back when you are listening to others and move in forward when you are speaking. Allow your body to show how relaxed you are.
  • Imagine the meeting going really well and you feeling confident and handling everything brilliantly.

The First Minute Strategy is that whenever you think of something you need to do you allocate the very first minute you get a chance to do it and you do something towards getting it completed. It is a habit that is the exact opposite of leaving things to the last minute. Once you practice it, it will become second nature to you.

Because Siobhan leaves things till the last minute, I introduce to her the first minute strategy. That means as she sets the schedule for what is coming up, she looks at something she will need to prepare for and she plans to do something about it the first minute she has free. So she not only has reminders of events scheduled in but also steps she has to take in preparation of these events.
