Tips
Series 2: Programme 5, Wednesday 1st April
Tips:
- Work as a team. Find out ways you can help each other become more effective.
- Get someone to support you and oversee that you are getting done what you want to do.
- Help others see exactly what your work entails so that they can help you if needs be.
- Create a To-Do list of all you need to do.
- Use Closed Lists where you give yourself a limited version of what you can actually do in one day.
- Break the tasks down into manageable chunks that you can complete more easily.
- Schedule in time to play and have fun with the children.
- Organise things so that you use the laptop only at designated periods.
- Reward yourself for accomplishing a difficult task.
- Schedule in time 'zones' where you immerse yourself in an activity for a set period of time rather than a more restrictive outline of exact jobs in that same period.
Pareto's Law:
Pareto's Law is known as the 80/20 Rule. This suggests that 20% of the effort achieves 80% of the results. This explains why it is so necessary to prioritise things. 20% of what you do is often exceptionally important and will lead to 80% of what you want to achieve so that 20% is something that needs to be prioritized. By getting organized and deciding on what the important actions are you can improve how efficient and productive you are.
The Principle of Habit Formation
The principle of habit formation suggests that it takes 21 days to create a habit. Thus, by getting Lorna into a few different new routines and asking her to keep them up, I'm helping her build a new habit which will soon become second nature to her.
