Sports Photographer

We’re searching for a person who dreams of snapping a moment and creating an iconic image of a sporting event. A sports photographer will cover every sport and sports event from the Olympics to junior rugby. They need to display good judgment and be able to jostle their way to the front of the media pack to ensure that they take the best photograph possible.

A prominent sports photography agency is offering a wannabe photographer the opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade from the best in the business. It’s a chance of a lifetime to turn your hobby into a career and perhaps see your photographs appear in the national press. You don’t need experience but you do need passion for pixels.

The initial contract will be for 6 months.

AVAILABILITY & DATES

The interview process will be filmed and you must be prepared to make yourself available for the first round of open interviews, which will take place in a central Dublin Hotel on Saturdays 5th August, 19th August and 14th October 2006 depending on the job applied for (subject to agreement).

On the day you will be interviewed on camera and may be asked to bring something along relating to the job, these interviews will be used to ascertain your compatibility with the prospective employer and vice versa.

Should you reach the second round of interviews, you will be required to make yourself available for another full day which may be mid week.

The finalists will be required to make themselves available for a further nine days, these dates shall be provided to the finalists. The dates are expected to fall consecutively over two working weeks, although this may vary according to the requirements of the featured job.

During this nine day period, the finalists will receive a fixed daily expenses allowance for food and travel and accommodation will be provided for those living further than a commutable distance from the particular workplace.

It will be for the producers to decide whether the workplace is within commuting distance. The selection of the accommodation will be at the sole discretion of the producers.

Filming for the finalists will take place in blocks from September 2006 to January 2007. Please indicate on your application form if there are any dates when you are definitely unavailable during this period. 

Applicants should be willing to travel at their own expense to the first round interviews.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Applicants should be 18 or over.

Applicants will be required to sign a consent for filming on the day of auditions and those who get through to the second round and finalists will be required to sign consents in respect of all filming.

The winner of each show will be offered a six month entry level contract with the featured company. That contract shall be on the basis of the standard pay, terms and conditions of the featured company.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Ireland.

Short-listed applicants will be required to give references to the producers and prospective employers.

The details of the advertised jobs may vary from those advertised. Applicants will be informed of any variations.

Applicants will be asked to disclose any prior criminal record, other than that which would be covered by Section 258 of the Children's Act, at interview stage. A criminal record will not disqualify the applicant but the final decision will rest with the individual employer.

Should a suitable candidate not be found, the employers reserve the right not to fill the vacancy.
