The Sophie Toscan du Plantier case:
-

10 years ago, the news that a young, aristocratic French woman had been brutally murdered at her holiday home in West Cork shocked the nation. The case has undergone many twists and turns since then, but there has never been a conviction for her murder. Every year, her family hold a vigil in her honour in West Cork, and every year, they appeal for someone to come forward and give them the evidence they need to finally close the case. Sophie's mother, Mrs Marguerite Bouniol, and her aunt, godmother, and principal confidante, Marie-Marguerite Opalka, speak for the first time on Irish television about those harrowing 10 years, and their wish that the case be resolved before Mme Bouniol dies. They were joined by journalist Ralph Riegel, who has been following the case closely since the start.
Packie Bonner & Ray Houghton
-

Packie Bonner was given the freedom of his native Donegal this month, the second person ever to get it. He chatted to Miriam about the sense of pride he felt at the honour being bestowed upon him. He talked about his chronic homesickness when he first went to Scotland, aged 18, to play for Celtic FC, his memories of the World Cup campaigns he was involved in, both as a footballer and later as a coach, and what lies ahead for Irish International Football. Packie was joined on the couch by his former Irish team mate Ray Houghton. Ray congratulated the big man on becoming a freeman of Donegal and spoke of his own connections to the county. The two Irish soccer legends had great fun reminiscing about the glory days of Irish football, Stuttgart 1988 and Italia 90, and they both had plenty to say about the current team.
