Brídín Carey (28) is from Tipperary and lives in Dublin. She is married to Brian and works as a Senior Occupational Therapist with the National Rehabilitation Hospital.

Brídín’s relationship with food has been a lifelong romance from her mother’s gastronomic surprises in her playground lunches to eating the tray-baked rabbit her uncle provided from his farm. Her mother was her first teacher and both parents grew veg and fruit that the family consumed on a daily basis. Her love for food has intensified more recently by her exposure to food from around the world; sampling pintxos in San Sebastian, gorging on spitroast on the banks of Lake Malawi, feasting in churascarias in Brazil, sampling the finest wines in vineyards in Cape Town, being overwhelmed by the quality of the fish and chips on the beach in Cronula and eating bowls and bowls of delicious homemade pasta in Chianti. Brídín loves everything about food - the taste, the sights, the culture, how it brings people together and especially the challenge. Brídín is very motivated and driven in everything she does.

She cooked Fish stew with cod, homemade brown bread and homemade herb butter and Bandon cheese to make it into the audition stage. Her audition dish was Tournedo of Organic Salmon, Rosti, Beetroot and Horseradish Cream.
