About the Show

Have you ever imagined what your life would be like without you?

If you didn't turn up to work on Monday, would your business survive?

Would your family cope if you weren't around for a week?

Do you think your colleagues or kids would miss you, or celebrate?

Six people are about to find out in the second series of Life Without Me.

This year, a person is removed from their workplace or family and sent on a week-long retreat to the picturesque Life Without Me Villa, in the south of Spain.

While the person is away, we will see how those left behind cope without them. Will they run the business or family differently? Will everything run smoothly or fall apart? Each week one person gets to put their family or colleagues to the test!

In this series, a variety of people from across Ireland have grabbed the chance to take a break from the daily grind of their busy lives.

Participants this year include:

  • Exhausted granny Hilda McCann from Dundalk
  • Micro-managing boss and owner of Paddy Wagon Tours, Cathal O'Connell
  • Tired shop and bar owner Patricia Doyle from Co Clare
  • Bride-to-be Alison Cahill from Dublin
  • Peter Smith, dad and owner of Hollyfort childcare centre Daddy Daycare
  • and Jenny McGrath, fed-up mother of five children aged between 25 and 12.

At the end of their precious time-out in Spain, the participants have the unique opportunity to see footage of how the people at home are getting on with life without them.

Will their family or fellow workers have missed them? Will the people at home begin to appreciate what the missing person does for them? Or will they wish the person was away for a month rather than a week?

When it's time for the relaxed and rejuvinated participants to head home to their frantic lives, the big question is - will anything have changed?

Find out Friday nights at 8.30pm from June 1st on RTÉ One.
