PERSIL IRISH FASHION AWARDS

Eight young fashion designers competed for the 9th Persil Irish Fashion Award.  Aside from the great prestige, the winning prize of €10,000 is designed to give a bright young designer a fashion career boost. 
 
This year's brief was to create a machine washable spring/summer outfit inspired by the 1980's period. The winning design is available in selected branches of Dunnes Stores in Ireland.

ALZHEIMER'S TEA DAY
In response to the interview with Matt Twomey on The Late Late Show, the 14th Alzheimer's Tea Day takes place nationally on 1st May. The Alzheimers Society of Ireland is looking for people - at home, at work, in their local club or wherever - to hold a tea break in or around 1st May and raise funds for dementia services for carers and people with dementia within their community. It's fun and easy to be involved and monies raised are spent locally. All people have to do is phone 1 800 719 820 or visit www.teaday.ie to register or make a donation.

REPUBLIC OF LOOSE
