She has portrayed a wide range of strong women, from the Queen of England to Britain's favourite alcoholic Detective Chief Inspector to the mother of a young soldier killed in Northern Ireland. She has won an Emmy and an Oscar and at 62, she is still a sex symbol. Helen Mirren joined Pat in the studio to reflect on a life less ordinary.
KT Tunstall became one of the world's most acclaimed artists in one giant step with the release of her debut CD 'Eye to the Telescope'. For her new album, "Drastic Fantastic", she got two very sexy guitars which she says brought a new dynamic to her sound. She tested them out on the Late Late audience with the hit single 'Hold On'.
On 26th September 2007, the news broke that two firemen had been killed fighting a fire in Bray, County Wicklow. 26 year-old Mark O'Shaughnessy and 46 year-old Brian Murray died when the roof collapsed in a building in which they were trying to extinguish a raging fire. Just two days after Mary Murray buried her husband Brian, the father of her 15 children, she came into the Late Late studio to ask the question: why did these two men die?
Canadian singer/songwriter and all-round heart throb Michael Bublé came into studio to perform two songs, one old, one new, and to talk about just how you follow an album that sold 11 million copies worldwide. He has stared down the barrel of a fully loaded AK-47, been set on fire by Russian neo-nazis, tear-gassed by riot police and become genuine bosom buddies with a notorious gangster...and that's all in a day's work. He was known for years as hard man Grant Mitchell in Eastenders - but now he's doing it for real on the TV series "Gangs", where he hangs out with some of the world's most dangerous people. Ross Kemp came in to talk about life on the dark side - and just how he winds down after a day's filming with some of the planet's most notorious gangsters.
General Sir Michael Jackson oversaw British forces in Iraq, met with war criminals in Bosnia and led NATO into Kosovo. Controversially, he was with the British Army on Bloody Sunday - and in Warrenpoint the day eighteen of his friends and colleagues were blown up. Decorated for bravery and distinguished service he retired last year after four decades at the cutting edge of military life. Although nick-named the Prince of Darkness by his troops, he was nonetheless hugely respected by them. He came into studio to talk about his new book, which looks back at his military career.
Valerie Fildes underwent a kind of facelift called a thread lift live in the Late Late studio at the start of the season. There was a little blood and some bruising, and we couldn't really judge the effectiveness of the finished procedure at the time - so, the Late Late team decided to ask her to come into studio to show off her new look to the nation and to reflect on the experience.
