Brian Kennedy is heading off on a mission this coming Wednesday, destination Athens. His quest is to get us through the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest so that we can on to win the contest on Saturday May 20th. Brian spoke to Pat about the big occasion and he performed his own song 'Every Song Is A Cry For Love'. Win, lose or draw, Brian plays Dublin's Olympia Theatre from July 10th to 15th and will shortly release a new album.
Earlier this week Consultant Pathologist Dr Bill Tormey caused a stir when he publicly challenged the opinion of Dr Marie Cassidy, the State Pathologist, in the case of the death of Brian Murphy. Dr Tormey claimed that the scientific evidence for her conclusion was dodgy and that her conclusion that Brian had died as a result of alcohol induced apnea or cessation of breathing - complicated by the head injuries he suffered, was fanciful in the extreme. It is not the first time that Dr Tormey has found himself in the middle of controversy and he gave a broad ranging interview with Pat Kenny which also covered areas of crime, drugs, anti-social behaviour and immigrants.
