The O'Connor White Family
Kay, John and their son Séamus have been living in their Inchicore home, near Dublin City, for the last 5 years. Their home is interesting because it used to be an old CIE Engineers house. They started renovating their house straightaway and have introduced modern interiors without compromising the character of the old house. They now want a design from Diarmuid Gavin that transforms their large garden, while keeping in theme with the surrounding area.
The O'Connor White's set Diarmuid a budget of ¤30,000
The Garden
28 metres long x 15 metres wide
The garden is interesting because it's 'back to front', as in their 'back' garden is actually their front garden!
Diarmuid's Challenge
The garden is at the front of the house and is their only garden. Diarmuid's design will revolve around removing the driveway.
Diarmuid stated that he "would like to change the wall at the front, replace its original footprint, and create a new pedestrian entrance to it's centre. The effect that this would have would be to create a more private garden in a space that is now open to public view".
