JOE AND CECILE: FRANCE

Joe and Cecile Duigan are living with their two children in Grasse in the South of France. They're looking for a villa to call home for the next few years. So far, they've only found one with real potential. This week, their search starts in the hills above Grasse and a large villa going for €267,000.

What's unusual here is that it's a semi-d, with a shared entrance, but the neighbours are in the process of building their own separate entrance round the back. It has 4 bedrooms and a great decks, terraces and views. And has plenty of space for a pool. This one turns out to be Joe and Cecile's favourite so far.

Again, they have one more to see before we leave them. This property is in Bar-Sur-Loup. It's a three bedroomed villa with planning permission for two more rooms. It is the closest to Joe's work yet, and close to a very picturesque village, high in the mountains

It's only €245,000, but more money will have to be spent because all of the bedrooms upstairs have very low ceilings and Joe simply cannot stand upright in any of them.

Later we found out exactly which house got their vote - which was the first one they saw today. But even at that it wasn't perfect. What they want most is the house they are renting and that is not for sale.

So we had to leave Joe and Cecile to keep searching - or keep renting!
