NORTH
SPAIN: PAUL AND JEN
Next
it's just a short hop over the border to Catalunya, in the
North of Spain. The capital of Catalunya is Barcelona, a
city renowned for its architecture, culture and vibrancy.
Our
search takes us to the ancient walled city of Girona - also
known as the city of a thousand sieges. Today it's one of
the most prosperous towns in Spain, and there is an undeniable
buzz about the place. Paul and Jen Loftus are the House
Hunters here.
They
recently left San Francisco where they had been working
in I.T., although Jen's background is in architecture. Paul
is Irish and Jen is American. They are looking for a big
space where they can work from if necessary and will spend
about €450,000.
Our
first visit takes us to Peralada, about 30 minutes north
of Girona. This is one of the most exclusive areas of Catalunya,
with numerous golf developments catering for wealthy week-enders.
This
3 bedroom villa is well within Paul and Jen's budget at
€297,500. It's 150 sq mtrs, has a front and back garden
and a communal swimming pool. But they're looking for place
to live for the next 5 years and this really feels more
like a golfers retreat.
So
no luck for Paul and Jen this week. Next week they'll be
looking for something bigger.
