EILEEN AND BILLY DONOHUE

Eileen and Billy want to buy a place in Romania, mainly for their adopted children, Ray and Gabriel aged 8 and 5yrs who are from Romania. They have been there three times. They looked at buying last year but found it all a bit daunting. Eileen works in Bank of Ireland and Billy is an electrical designer.

They are looking for a 2 bed apartment or house. If it’s an apartment they don’t want the ground floor, but maybe two to three floors up, with a nice view.
Their favourite place is a town called Mangalia north of the Bulgarian border. They have had a top up mortgage organised since last year. They would also consider buying in Constanta or even Bucharest.  They say they would be interested in the suburbs in Bucharest. Gabriel is aged 5 years and has been here for 4 years. Ray is aged 8 years and has been here for 6 years. Both boys are from Constanta.

They have a budget of between €50,000 - €100,000.

In the end our search concentrated in Constanta and Mangalia. We showed them a number of properties but none fitted the bill. Eileen returned to Romania later in the year determined to buy a property for the boys and she put in an offer on a place in Constanta which was accepted.
