Liz is from Drogheda, Co Louth. She bought her first property at the age of 20 in the UK (with a 100% mortgage!) and she then became obsessed with the property ladder. More property purchases followed and sourcing properties for friends was her hobby long before it became her business. Her father always said she should have been an auctioneer and her working life is testament to this.
Liz established www.get-sorted.ie in 2003 an accomplished property and home finding business based in Dublin. It was this expertise that landed her the role of presenting on both RTE’s series of House Hunters and House Hunters in the Sun. Liz is also the chosen property expert for The Afternoon Show (RTE1), Ireland’s premier day time television programme where she scours the country looking for property gems and bargains around Ireland! Until recently Liz has been writing a property column for the Evening Herald newspaper, she also submits to other publications and newspapers including the House Hunters in the Sun magazine and is a regular commentator on Irish radio.
Liz is married to Rory an architect, hence the obsession with houses, buildings and design! They have two children, Rossa aged 8 and Ellie aged 5 and a half.
Ian Lawlor, a Professional Investor from Fermoy in Cork left an engineering career in 2004 to focus full time on his investment projects. In 1997 he and his girlfriend purchased their first property and a couple of years later upon purchasing another, decided to hold and rent rather than sell. A move to Dublin in 2000 was primarily motivated by a want to get more familiar and invest in the Dublin Market with a view to building a portfolio. Today, Dublin, North America, Scandinavia and the UK are his prime areas of interest as well as structuring deals and syndicates for investors.
In 2003, the need to build contacts sparked Ian co-founding The ICES Group (Irish Complementary Education Systems) which now runs events fortnightly in Dublin and monthly in Cork, Limerick & Galway. ICES are a learning forum for investors, run by investors. Different tools and techniques are used to bring clarity to ordinary folks in becoming rounded and successful investors “Our intention is to demonstrate to people that they need not have to rely on their ability to sell their time, in order to make money”.
Ian is married to Ria and has two children, Daragh and Aoibhinn.
