Are you Home for Christmas this year? Do you want some new, inspirational and cost effective ideas for your Christmas dinner? Or are you looking for some easy tips on how to dress your Christmas table? Or how about some good old fashioned Christmas carols to really get you in the mood?
Well, get your Christmas off to a spectacular start with RTÉ One's live show Home for Christmas on Tuesday 21st December.
Presented by Nationwide's Mary Kennedy and broadcast live from the beautiful Farmleigh House, this fun-filled show will feature three chefs - Catherine Fulvio, Martin Shanahan and the Irish Country Women's Association's chief home economist Marie McGuirk - cooking their own unique Christmas Day menus.
It may be all doom and gloom but Home for Christmas has it covered since it has given the three chefs a real recession challenge. Cook up a three course Christmas Day menu for five people with a bottle of wine - for ¤50.
Catherine, Martin and Marie will all cook their three course meals live from Farmleigh. But will they all manage to cook their full three courses and will they pass the ¤50 value challenge?
You will be able to give your verdict on how they perform since viewers can vote for their favourite Christmas Day menu so the pressure will really be on!
Catherine Fulvio from RTÉ's Catherine's Roman Holiday is planning a very Italian menu with smoked salmon, pheasant and a luscious Christmas ice-cream bombe.
Martin Shanahan of RTÉ's Martin's Mad About Fish is dreaming of a seafood Christmas and he's cooking up mussels, salmon and a festive trifle.
The Irish Countrywoman's Association is celebrating its centenary this year and RTÉ is delighted to have their chief home economist Marie McGuirk on board as the third chef. It wouldn't be Christmas without turkey and ham and Marie is in the hot seat with her crab starter, full traditional dinner and her mini plum puddings.
Over the course of two live half hour shows - from 7pm - 7.30pm and from 8.30pm - 9.00pm, Catherine, Martin and Marie will cook up their three course menus and reveal exactly how much they cost.
In the live audience will be the extremely knowledgeable members of the ICA who will really put them through their paces.
With lots of ideas and inspiration for delicious food, Home for Christmas will also feature some great table decorating tips from designer Deborah McMullen who can show you how a bit of DIY and a small amount of money can go a long way.
Wine expert Tom Doorley is back with his best value deals and this year, the Dublin Gospel Choir and Jack L are ready to perform some classic Christmas favourites, including O Holy Night, Joy to the World and White Christmas, all sung in the beautiful surroundings of Farmleigh House.
