Plays Aden Jefferies
Todd was born in Newcastle on 18 February 1985, and spent most of his life in the town of Medowie with his parents Rob and Jan and his brother Chad. He now lives on the Northern Beaches, in Sydney.
Before getting into acting, Todd initially wanted to get into sport, playing baseball, soccer, cricket, softball, footy and tennis for 12 years in his hometown of Newcastle. He was close to taking baseball to the next level.
‘My dad was an awesome soccer player so it’s a little bit in the genes,’ says Todd, ‘Yeah, it got pretty serious to the stage where I wanted to pursue it.’
When acting became his passion, Todd discarded his childhood dream of joining the police and his sporting ambitions, and after being spotted by an agent at a Sydney acting school Screenwise in Paddington, his passion for acting became a reality.
‘I had a guest role about two years ago on the show for a couple of months with Sharni (Vinson),’ says Todd, then I worked on Blue Water High for a couple of guest roles, Blackjack with Colin Friels then McLeod’s Daughters.’
But ‘daunting and awesome’, as Todd describes it, was his role as Frat Boy in Fool’s Gold, working with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, filmed in Port Douglas and Universal Studios in Hollywood.
This experience has given him a focus, 'I love TV but I really like the idea of getting into films, that's where I'd like to take it.' So perhaps we'll see him join Chris Hemsworth and the rest of the Home and Away entourage in Hollywood.
Todd shares a beach-side apartment with Mark Furze (who used to play Ric Dalby).
‘I love going to the movies' he said, and names his favourite actors as "the one and only, Leonardo Dicaprio!!! He is unbelievable at what he does and such a massive inspiration." Denzel Washington, Matt Damon, Jake Gyllenhaal also rank highly.
His list of favourite films and TV shows include Blood Diamond, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Bourne Films, Wedding Crashers, The Departed, Bad Boys 2, Anchorman, 300, Man On Fire, Flags of our Fathers, followed by TV shows such as Entourage, 24, Lost, Prison Break, and Band of Brothers.
Todd loves travelling and has been to Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and went to Mexico when he was 14. "It was a bit of an eye opener, it's a totally different world, it's cruel and the opposite to L.A. but it was good to experience it."
And he remembers vividly the day he got 'the call.'
‘I was with a couple of my mates and we were getting ready for a paintball day out in the bush. My agent rang me and was like what are you doing? I’m like playing paintball. He said that he’s got some good news, and I just lost it. It was a good day. I still remember it perfectly. It's not like work, I just feel so lucky to be part of it. I am absolutely loving every second, the cast and crew and everyone involved are amazing people to work with. It still feels surreal for me to be part of the show, every day brings something different... I don’t think it's all really hit me yet that it's happening. Most mornings I still wake up and have a moment to take in the fact that I am actually working on the show... I feel extremely lucky to be doing something I love every single day!
Todd has a beagle called Scooby.
