He grew up on his family’s farm in country Victoria, Axle’s dad was a farmer, while his mum would always drag Axle and his two older brothers along to all sorts of live music shows. At home, someone would always be playing something like Bob Dylan or Paul Simon or Creedence Clearwater on the stereo.
Axle moved to Melbourne to attend the prestigious VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) to study music. In 2003, he was a contestant on the first series of Australian Idol and made it to the Top 20. After being spotted on Idol, he was hired to host the television music show, Video Hits on Network Ten, hosting from 2004 - 2006, whilst still playing gigs back in Melbourne.
In 2006, Axle returned to the family farm harvesting, shearing and allowing him to focus on his passion for making music. At the beginning of 2007, Axle moved back to Sydney to launch his recording career.
His debut single ‘I Don't Do Surprises’ was a Top Ten hit on the Aria charts and his album, ‘Losing Sleep’ was released through Roadshow Music in August 2008.
On acting, Axle says, “I’ve been taking classes for the last 18 months and it’s wonderful to be able to put it into practice. Home and Away has been very supportive, the pace of the show is very challenging and it’s been a fantastic opportunity for me to further my skills.”
