Hospital Saturday Fund

In August ‘02 Ann and her family joined the Hospital Saturday Fund (HSF), a not-for-profit healthcare cash plan.  Ann is so happy with the HSF that she does not feel the need to have any other form of health insurance.

HSF health benefits include Dental, Optical (including eye laser treatment), General Practitioner, Emergency Department, Prescriptions, Birth Grants, Adoption Grants, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Homoeopathy, Chiropody/Podiatry, Specialist Consultations, X-rays, Pathology Tests, Allergy Testing, Health Screening, Many Other Investigations, Hospital General, Hospital Accident, Hospital Elderly Care, Hospital Mental Illness, Hospice, Recuperation, Day Case Surgery and Treatment, Surgical Appliances, Hearing Aids, Personal Injury, Permanent Disability, Temporary Disability, Fracture Benefit, Accidental Death. HSF also give contributions towards day case or overnight beds.

Unlike many health insurance schemes there is no six month qualifying period and claims can be made just three months after joining and up to six months after incurring an expense.

The HSF offers 9 personal schemes and 7 company schemes, Ann through her work, chose scheme 750 which is €32.50 per month, €390 per annum, which comes to €1950 for 5 years.
