The Chef: Kevin Dundon
Kevin Dundon is the Chef/Proprietor of Dunbrody Country House Hotel & Restaurant, a regular chef on RTÉ's The Afternoon Show and sausage magnate in the making. When he's not cooking in his award winning restaurant in Wexford you might find him tending to his organic kitchen garden, feeding his beloved truffle hunting pig or playing camogie with his daughters. Kevin is passionate about food and believes that Wexford and its environs produces the best there is, a fact that is always reflected in his carefully crafted menus. In programme 1 of Guerrilla Gourmet Kevin commits a culinary coup d'état by abandoning the sublime elegance of Dunbrody for the spit bucket and raw knuckle charm of St Saviour's Boxing Club in the tough housing estate of Ballybeg in Waterford.
The Venue: St Saviour's Boxing Club
The Ballybeg housing estate in Waterford can often hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In the heart of the estate is St Saviour's Boxing Club, a place where local boys and girls learn a lot about discipline, community and how to be champions. it's a place where tough kids learn a tough sport under the watchful gaze of their dedicated coaches. What St Saviour's has never been is a fine dining establishment. Until now. In the blue corner is Kevin Dundon and he is not one to throw in the towel. He plans to go the full ten rounds, setting up and cooking in a knockout Guerrilla Gourmet restaurant, for one night only.
