Fresh from the Sea : Programme 7

Fresh From The Sea presenter Clodagh McKenna returns to Cork for the final programme in the series this week where she meets John Chamberlain who runs Europe's only commercial sea urchin hatchery in Goleen, West Cork. Clodagh learns how the sea urchins are bred and reared, and tastes one straight from one of the rock pools beside the hatchery.

Denis Good owns one of the country's largest fish processing plants and Clodagh meets him at his plant in Carrigaline. Denis supplies supermarkets and his own retail outlets with a range of fresh, whole and filleted fish, as well as a range of value added products such as fish chowders and fish cakes.

Anyone who goes to sea more than a few miles off-shore will be familiar with nautical charts. Bobby Nash, owner of Latitude Kinsale in Kinsale, creates 3D works of art using these charts, which brings them to life visually.

Clodagh's final destination in this programme is Fishy Fishy Restaurant in Kinsale, a Hospitality Member of the Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) Seafood Circle. The restaurant is owned by well respected chef Martin Shanahan. Kinsale is renowned for its seafood and Martin shows Clodagh a delicious dish using hake.
