SPOILER ALERT - don't read ahead if you don't want to know what's coming up on Fair City.

It's fair to say that Dermot and Jo have been through a lot. Jo's affair destroyed their marriage and Jo was banished to Cork as Dermot tried to figure out family life at home. Dermot was just re-establishing a life for himself outside of family and work when Jo returned to Carrigstown.

Jo's father died and with nothing else left for her in Cork, Jo was determined to return home and spend more than just weekends with Ben. Needless to say, Dermot was angry. Dermot was finally forced to confront the the multitude of emotions that Jo brought up and his rage prompted an early demise of his burgeoning romance with Maeve.

Things have been rough in recent times. Jo refused to move out of the house and with Dermot unable to live with her, he has moved into a B&B. Poor Ben has been caught in the crossfire and with Dermot and Jo seemingly unable to hold a civil conversation, they decided to seek mediation.

Things soon turned sour with Dermot unable to move past injustice abd blame and Jo unwilling to cede any control of family affairs.

Relations remain frosty but Dermot insists on taking Ben out for St. Patrick's Day depsite Jo's concerns. When Jo finds the pair of them in McCoys, she makes a huge scene in front of the neighbours and friends. Jo takes Ben home leaving Dermot to wallow in anger. Dermot is furious and goes to confront Jo and say goodnight to Ben. Obviosuly Jo has different ideas.
