A New Arrival

Find out more about the latest arrival in Carrigstown - Neil Ferguson. (Played by Emmet Kirwan)

Pete is delighted when an unexpected visitor arrives in Carrigstown but not everyone is as happy to see him. Neil Ferguson, Pete's son, comes home from London on a surprise visit, and let's face it, nobody arrives in Carrigstown without any baggage. As ever in Carrigstown, it doesn't take long for things to boil over.

With Pete busy working, Neil calls into Vinos for lunch. Neil isn't exactly impressed, having spent the last few years working in the top kitchens in London. Vinos isn't quite up to his exacting standards. Yvonne's temper soon starts sizzling when Neil criticises the food and Orla is left cold by Neil's straight talking attitude.

Pete is over the moon to see his son back at home, and is only too delighted to let Neil stay with him while he is visiting. Orla however has knives out for Neil and is not happy to have Pete's son couch-surfing in her home. Orla and Neil's relationship chills even further when Neil organises an impromptu party and Orla comes home to find her house taken over by the youth of Carrigstown and Caoimhe Dillon there ready to send her temper into overdrive. An angry Orla insists that Pete should make Neil leave but is left with egg on her face when she finds out that it isn't wise to force Pete into picking between friends and family.

Things aren't easy as pie for Pete and his son though. Neil has come home with a painful injury and won't discuss how it happened. Pete makes Neil visit Judith, who soon spots that Neil must have got himself into a pickle and that his explanation doesn't hold up. Pete manages to get the truth though and is shocked when Neil tells him about the violent altercation that left his hand so badly injured. Neil however remains cool as a cucumber leaving Pete wondering if he really knows his son at all.

Is there more to Neil Ferguson? Is really telling the truth about what happened in London and why he is home? Will Neil's past catch up with him and how long will Pete be able to put up with his fiery son who seems to do whatever he wants without any concern for the consequences?
