The Eurovision 2007 Final

The Eurovision 2007 Semi-Final

This year sees the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest take place in Finland. One of Ireland’s most popular traditional music acts Dervish carry Ireland’s hopes into the contest.

The song They Can’t Stop The Spring was selected by public vote on The Late Late Show in February and was written by well known Irish journalist John Waters and his childhood friend Tommy Moran. Thanks to Brian Kennedy’s success last year in Athens, when Ireland made it the top ten, this year we automatically go through to the final on Saturday the 12th of May.

Both the semi-final and the final will be broadcast live on RTÉ, the semi-final takes place on Thursday the 10th of May, and will be broadcast on RTÉ Two at 8pm. The final will be broadcast live on RTÉ One from 8pm with commentary by Marty Whelan, this year Larry Gogan will also be commentating live on RTÉ Radio One.

Ireland have been drawn to perform fourth so make sure to tune in at 8pm to see Dervish perform the song live from the Hartwell Arena in Helsinki.
