It might be the biggest problem facing an entire generation. Negative equity and unpayable mortgages afflict hundreds of thousands of Irish people and could be an economic timebomb.
But what exactly do we do about it? A group of economists and finance experts have put their names to a call for debt forgiveness to allow people to shed their onerous financial obligations.
Should we throw the beleaguered mortgage holders a lifeline or should there be no free lunch for those who were foolish enough to buy overpriced property?
In the studio tonight we have one of the signatories of that Irish Times article, Dr Valerio Poti of DCU. We will also have Dr Antoin Murphy from TCD, the Irish Independent's Legal Editor, Dearbhaill MacDonald and broadcaster and journalist Joe O'Shea.
