Ear to the Ground

Programme 8

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
It's that time of year again and this Christmas Ear to the Ground is having a homemade celebration! Our presenters will be challenged to create or make a unique gift to bring to our Ear to the Ground Christmas celebration.

Christmas Is Coming And The Geese Are Getting Fat
Darragh Mc Cullough looks at alternatives to the traditional Christmas turkey. He meets Arklow farmer SeŠn Kent who is rearing geese and ducks for the Christmas market. SeŠn's farm has recently had some new arrivals and we meet the fluffy ducklings.

Deck The Halls With Boughs Of Holly
Helen Carroll goes foraging in a bid to bring the outdoors indoors this festive season. She'll be on a farm in Kilcock with farmer Joe Barry and …anna NŪ Lamhna learning about the tradition of holly and what we can bring in to our home and what should stay outside. She'll also be learning how to put her findings to good use by learning how to make a Christmas wreath.

Eat Drink And be Merry!
Over the festive season many of us like to treat ourselves to a glass or two of our favourite beer. Smaller and more unusual beers have become increasingly popular over their big brand rivals. Ella Mc Sweeney visits a microbrewery in Tipperary to find out about their wares. Ella gets a lesson in brewing and learns about how to go about concocting a special Christmas brew.
