Episode 2: Vapper Dryer

Q: Explain your Dragon's Den experience?
A: Great people at ShinAwil. Really relaxed before hand. Shocked I didn't get an offer.

Q: Who was the toughest Dragon?
A: Niall O'Farrell. He just didn't believe it.

Q: Were you nervous?
A: Not at first. But many of my answers were interrupted by questions from different Dragons. That was disconcerting. When I realised I wasn't getting any positive feedback, I started to blabber a bit.

Q: Were you surprised by some of the questions?
A: Some. When asked if caravans used electricity, I was surprised. When one of the dragons insisted that all caravans had built in washer dryers, I was hesitant to contradict him.

Q: Who was most interested in your idea?
A: Gavin Duffy. He got it, but declined to invest for some reason which I can't recall. I'll see it when the programme airs is guess.

Q: Would you have done anything differently?
A: Yes.
1: Explained my background more.
2: Highlighted the value of the Irish market as well as the Global value.
3: Not allowed 3 of the dragons spray so much water on the shirt before the demonstration. Drying times depend on how much water is in the garment. It can't be predicted by random spraying.
4: Asked them if they could think of any other possible method of drying a soaking wet shirt in less than 7 minutes (in a TV studio).
5: Explained the analogy of a car manufacturer who claims 50 mpg, but when a customer actually drives it, only gets 40 mpg.

Q: Would you recommend applying for Dragon's Den to any other budding entrepreneurs?
A: Yes

Q: What does this mean to you personally?
A: Worthwhile experience.

Q: In five year's time where do you see your product/company?
A: Energy costs are only going to rise in the future. The Vapper Dryer is a highly efficient system which could save the world billions in energy costs. When the general public realise that tumble dryers are costing them more and more and that drying outdoors is always free. They are likely to look for a system like the Vapper Dryer which can dry clothes quickly on demand. Vapper Dryer's patent will allow us to supply that market for the next 20 years. Drying on demand will become a normal process in homes around the world. Much like microwave ovens are now.

Q: What is your lasting memory of the Den?
A: The disappointment on my son's face when I came down from the Den.
