Episode 7: Michael Connolly's Response

Q: Who was the toughest Dragon?
A: I was impressed at how nice they were I was expecting them to be much harder.

Q: Were you nervous?
A: Yes Extremely Nervous. Toughest test of nerve to date.

Q: How did you prepare?
A: I got the website into shape, arranged meetings with my business mentor Heidi Corr, had another meeting with a marketeer (friend), my solicitor and my brother who has also worked in marketing, this helped me prepare my pitch and a questions and answers list. I had two days before the Den to practise my pitch and get it recited off, which is all I did on those days.

Q: Was it as you expected it to be?
A: No, My pitch was too long, Anthony told me to cut it right down which actually made it easier, how ever the information was better used in response to questions asked as were the questions and answers.

Q: Were you surprised by some of the questions?
A: Not really, I was surprised with Gavin's offer so early and that also helped me relax a little.

Q: Who was most interested in your idea?
A: Gavin obviously but everyone seemed interested in it, another thing that made me feel at ease were the complements to firstly the animatazz logo and secondly the artwork and concept. I was surprised Sean exited so easily and impressed by Bobby's interest.

Q: Would you have done anything differently?
A: Probably improved my pitch and maybe think beyond the pitch and even have a strategy for negotiating etiquity, by this I mean that I hadn't thought beyond the pitch and the questions and answers. I consider this to be the launch of Animatazz.

Q: Has entering the den changed your perception of business in any way?
A: I'm not sure, I am more nrevous now as I know I still have a lot to learn.

Q: Would you recommend applying for Dragon's Den to any other budding entrepreneurs?
A: Yes Certainly but I would probably then launch into a lecture about making sure you prepare yourself for it.

Q: What does this mean to you personally?
A: It means that we can really make it happen. Still a huge amount of work has to be done. Its daunting!
