Episode 4: Wood Turning

Practice: Wood
Location: Borris County Carlow
Mentor: Glenn Lucas

Overview
Glenn Lucas, reputably one of the fastest bowl turners in the world, gave a master class in wood over seven-days from his County Carlow studio. The apprentices had to come up with their own design and then went to a local tree surgeon's yard to select the wood for their end piece from naturally fallen timber.

Mentor Profile
Glenn Lucas is a production turner from Co Carlow and has been woodturning for over twenty years. Specialising in functional ware such as salad bowls and platters he has also participated in many national and international exhibitions with artistic work. Highly efficient at the lathe he produces large quantities of bowls and platters each year for high end retail outlets. Glenn is invited annually to teach and demonstrate woodturning skills at major events and craft schools around the world.
