Beth Moran who located to the picturesque Clare Island off the coast of County Mayo from the States over thirty years ago gave a master class in floor loom weaving.
Patience is a virtue, have it if you can was the motto to this seven day Master Class as the apprentices battled to set up the big floor looms thread by thread as time was ticking by.
The end pieces were realized after many set backs for all three apprentices and the locals were very interested in the weaving process.
Beth Moran has been running The Ballytoughey Loom for 14 years and she specializes in Hand weaving, natural dyeing and spinning on the picturesque Clare Island, Co Mayo, Ireland. Beth creates pieces in fine silks making large pieces which can be used as wall hangings, curtains or throws. Also she produces smaller pieces as table runners, scarves, shawls and fancy neckpieces. The bases of her work is color and pattern and each individual piece is unique.

Rachel O'Connell studied in London at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design the Royal College of Art and went onto design interior fabrics for companies like John Lewis and Mulberry returning to Ireland in 2000 to set up a business designing and making woven products including scarves, cushions. With a broad range of experience in the architectural and interiors fields, as well as in trend prediction and textile design her vision was to bring together contemporary design and traditional Irish weaving techniques and raw materials. Showcase Ireland was her main platform for selling to retailers around Europe and America. More recently Rachel has been working on collaborative projects with between NCAD & craft-makers in Nepal developing textiles for the western market with a focus on sustainable income generation.
