Berry Good!

So the potatoes look like they have blight, the lettuce is going to seed faster than we can pick it, the weeds are threatening to overrun the place and the sun (much as I appreciate it) has burnt my sweet peas….and yet there is a bright spot.
A lot of little bright red spots in fact. The strawberries are my plot’s most impressive achievement to date. Last night Paul, Lucille and myself found plump, juicy, ripe berries the size of plums, and while there weren’t enough to really gorge on we had a good go at it!
There really is nothing like sun-warmed, fresh, organic strawberries. Never again will I buy a sad looking punnet of weak coloured strawberries in a supermarket!
And the best part? We planted them in the ground, put plastic down around them to keep down the weeds, straw to keep the berries dry and then ignored them. Gardening doesn’t get much simpler than that.
Now, for those potatoes...
