About the House

Programme 8

This week Duncan is in Rathfarnham, County Dublin to meet two neighbours who live in adjoining semi detached houses. Vonla Griffin and Geraldine Moynihan have decided to upgrade their homes, and  save money in the meantime by doing the work together on both houses. Duncan meets Geraldine and talks to her about the problems with their homes and why they have decided to upgrade.
Vonla and Geraldine area availing of a free independent energy assessment which they applied for through ESB’s new HALO scheme – aimed at surveying and upgrading poorly performing homes throughout the country.
Also this week, Tania meets a home owner with a passion for all things timber. Patrick McKenna shows Tania around his joiner’s workshop and she visits his home to see the results of his work.
Tania also takes a trip to a salvage yard to explore the benefits of unwanted second hand furniture.
