About the House

Programme 4

 Renovation: Wicklow

This week, About the House takes us to Co. Wicklow, where we meet Maggo and Graeme, whose building project has ground to a halt. Maggo and Graeme are rebuilding a 200-year-old cottage and Maggo is project managing the build herself.

Duncan meets the couple to give them advice and get them back on track, while ensuring they stay under budget and enabling them to preserve some of their green dreams.

Also this week on About the House, we take a look at a new approach to design that makes us think about creating a world around us that will be accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability or circumstance. We meet three people who put these issues to the test.

Meanwhile, Angie meets with Nikki and Noel McKenna, who have moved back from America to build their dream home in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. This stunning house not only provides their young family with beautiful, spacious living quarters, but also incorporates a number of eco features including a geo-thermal heating system, passive solar design principles and the use of many natural renewable materials.
