Yvonne and Aidan

CARLA

Our new presenter Carla comes from the village of Caledon in Co Tyrone.

Her first love is dance. She began at 5 years of age and hasn't stopped dancing since! Before studying Journalism in Galway, Carla spent three years on a world tour with Riverdance. A world champion dancer, Carla has performed at the Pyramids in Egypt, on the Great Wall of China and in front of 80,000 people at the opening of the Special Olympics. She also danced for Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Ireland.

Carla's love of storytelling comes from meeting new people on her travels and learning about traditions and customs from around the world. Her hobbies include dancing, running, socialising with friends, reading and going to the cinema.

She is very excited to be joining the News2day team!

AIDAN

Aidan is 23 years old and comes from Edenderry in Co Offaly.

English was his favourite subject at school, so it's no surprise that he went on to study journalism in DCU for four years, which included a six month stay at a university in West Virginia in America.

Aidan joins the news2day team from the world of radio - he has been reading and reporting the news for the past two years. His favourite moment came when he got to interview lots of cool bands at Oxegen in 2008.

He has tried his hand at many sports over the years - football, soccer, hurling, even kickboxing - but admits he wasn't very good at any of them (even if he has a few lucky medals)

He enjoys swimming, however, and is a huge music fan. His favourite artists include Klaxons, Green Day and even Britney!

Aidan can usually be found hanging out with friends, at the cinema or reading books. He also loves to travel and his favourite TV programmes include The X Factor and 30 Rock.
