The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
December 9 2010It's almost Christmas! Well... it's just over two weeks away. But still.... it's almost Christmas :)
Christmas time is my favourite time of the year by far. I love the chilly afternoons, the way town looks so pretty with all the fairy lights and spending lots of time with my family and friends watching Christmas movies and having snowball fights (and making giant snowmen too!).
The snow this year was such a lovely surprise! It reminded me of winter time in Moldova where there's always so much snow for weeks on end. My favourite thing to do was to play on my home made sledge and have snow ball fights with all the other children living on my road...
It gets so cold there sometimes that huge icicles hang from the roof's of houses, making everything look like something out of a fairytale, especially surrounded by the glistening snow.
Another one of my favourite things about Christmas time in the winter are the power cuts. I don't know if it still happens now but when I was still living there the electricity always went off in the winter which meant that in the evenings we used to sit reading and chatting and playing games in candle light. It was really cosy! I used to visit my grandmother those evenings and she used to make a special food called pampushki which is home made bread dipped into an oil and garlic sauce.... amazing.
Christmas in Moldova falls on Jan 7th, so that means that now that I live in Ireland I get to celebrate it twice. On the 25th of December like everybody else and on the 7th of January as well. But don't worry, I don't get twice as many presents! Just two big dinners :D Santa always arrives on the 24th of December, without fail.
Check me out enjoying the snow in Moldova... I think I'm about 4 years old!

What do you guys love most about Christmas? And what will you be asking Santa for?!
