About The Show

No Frontiers is back for a landmark tenth year with reports on a wide range of holidays and travel from around the globe.

We'll be kicking off on January 1st with a special programme that sees lead presenter Kathryn Thomas heading to the Polynesian island of Tonga which is one of only three places in the world where it is legally possible to swim with humpback whales. And an old friend of No Frontiers Diarmuid Gavin also realises a long held ambition; to visit Cuba before the ailing Fidel Castro relinquishes power and the country changes forever.

Throughout the series an array of special celebrity reporters will be crisscrossing the globe to find the best holidays around. Lucy Kennedy will temporarily abandon Podge and Rodge to try and become a Mahout (elephant trainer) in northern Thailand. Baz Ashmawy is used to travelling the world on a tight budget for How Low Can You Go. He stays local for us on a weekend break in Galway.

And I'm an Adult Get Me Out of Here's John Maguire will follow up on last year's No Frontiers fighter jet lesson with an even scarier proposition. He will reach speeds of around 120 km/h as he launches himself head first down a skeleton sled track in Lillehammer. Aidan Power and Laura Woods will also be looking for adventure as they head to West Cork for a spot of sea kayaking.

Journalist and broadcaster Fiona Looney and her young children will present three reports to try and find the perfect family holiday. They will head to a campsite in France before swapping that for luxury in a specialist holiday resort in Portugal and an activity holiday back home in Lahinch. Actor Don Wycherley, his wife Deirdre and their children Jack, Katie and Evan will experience the wonder of life in the bush on a two-centre safari holiday in Kenya.

The popular Celebrity City Challenge will also be returning with the likes of Ryan Tubridy, Glenda Gilson and celebrity chef Derry Clarke looking for your vote as they take a weekend break in their favourite cities - Washington DC, Barcelona and Gothenburg. And your vote could win you a very special holiday prize, so stay tuned!

Broadcaster John Kelly loved visiting New Orleans before the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He returns for a special report on the city that has declared itself back open for business. With a direct flight from Ireland now available to San Francisco, George Hook shows Brent Pope around the city he knows and loves. They also tour the Sonoma valley in search of fine wine and fun.

And armchair explorers everywhere will be glued to their screens to find out how Kathryn Thomas fares when she treks deep into the jungle in one of the most remote places in the world, Papua New Guinea, in an adventure special.

You'll notice a changes or two here at the No Frontiers website. Each destination will feature an article full of further tips and hints to whet your travelling appetite. And of course, we'll have contact and prices details of everything featured in the show. Don't forget you can watch each episode online just in case you missed us on TV.
