Duration: 124 minutes
Down on his luck sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) stages a not-so-typical recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball. In one last attempt to save his livelihood, JB travels to India to produce a reality show called The Million Dollar Arm, in search of baseball's next great pitcher.
Two sheltered Indian teens, Rinku (Suraj Sharma) and Dinesh (Madhur Mittal), show they have the knack for throwing a fast ball and so JB takes them from their small Indian villages to Los Angeles, with hopes of developing them into professional players. Despite their hard work and good intentions, the endearing pair struggle to adjust to American life. The addition of their very enthusiastic translator Amit (Pitobash) adding undeniable comedy to the script.
The entire film is filled to the brim with snippets of Indian culture, traditions and music and its stark contrast with the pizza-eating, laid-back part of the American lifestyle. The trip to Mumbai, where JB holds auditions right next to the Taj Mahal, adds to the beautiful visuals.
Million Dollar Arm is an uplifting story that emphasises the importance of family and commitment. Its vibrant energy and humour give it a real feel-good factor.
