Veteran Belfast actor JJ Murphy died last Friday night, August 8, four days after his first Game of Thrones scenes.
Murphy collapsed and died suddenly, having just begun shooting his role as Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night's Watch.
The actor was set to shoot a number of further scenes, and had told friends how delighted he was to be part of the cult TV show.
Producers will confirm whether they hope to recast his part, or to make alterations to scenes he was scheduled to star in.
The actor was also set to appear in Dracula Untold, directed by Gary Shore. Murphy’s previous film credits include Mickybo and Me, Cal and Angela's Ashes. Murphy is survived by his wife Mary and their children.
