Knees Up for RTÉ Radio 1's Documentary On One

Ten's Taragh Loughrey-Grant has a right old knees up on Saturday

My Left Knee is this week's Documentary on One on RTÉ Radio 1 and what began as an unfortunate incident in a boot camp exercise class ended with an exploration of the humble knee, including many famous film references.

What RTÉ TEN's Taragh Loughrey-Grant discovered en route, is that there is nothing humble about it. Knees are used for worship in many religions, knees themselves are worshipped, by fetishists, who achieve enormous heights of sensual pleasure from these joints - "poetry in motion" says one.

We also find out who owns the Three Most Famous Irish Knees. The knees play their part in movies: from The Karate Kid to the French cult classic from 1970, Claire's Knee and in popular TV shows such as an iconic Star Trek scene featuring actress and model Iman.

Of course, knees are the subject of many popular songs - the best of which you'll hear here!

Listen to Doc on One's My Left Knee now here (rte.ie/doconone) or tune in to RTÉ Radio 1 (88-90fm, or via the RTÉ Radio App/Player) tomorrow, Saturday August 2 at 2.00pm.
